I have a good buddy on this forum who loves 442's so to tease him I'm working up an idea for a tribute car (AND we cannot afford a reeeeel 442 anyways) so the idea is to make a Volvo 242 into a 442 "clone" much like what GM did with the Quad 442. It would have the classic Volvo redblock 4 cyl motor with a 4 speed automatic and true split exhaust all the way from the manifold back to the repro 442 trumpet tips. It would also have 14x6" color-matched Ford Grabber Blue rallys off a late 60's cutlass and a single intake snorkle beneath the bumper [off a 68 w30]. I need to figure out the emblems however, as they currently read 242 [see attached photo]. Because of the color, we'd get a vanity plate: TRU BLU. Our True Blue 442, if you will! Thanks much! (p.s. 1968 Cutlass is my favorite)

Good morning Ray! My buddy Ray spent umpteen hours helping me tinker on my Oldsmobile's back in the 1980's and 90's. And stored the 1970 442 in his garage for a couple of years. I think many of us have had friends who encouraged us when we got bogged down and felt overwhelmed with a project we got deep into. A big part of this hobby is the friends we make along the way!
