Greetings

Looking forward to learning and helping others. My first car was a 1969 Cutlass 4 door sedan that I bought back around 1977 for $388 that I had saved up myself for. Wasn’t much to look at but was a great ride and dependable. It had a Rocket 350 in it. About 3 years later I saw a 1969 442 for sale locally. The owner was asking $2500 and after they warned me, “be careful it can get away from you” I had to have it! My parents loaned me the money and I ended up selling it about 3 years later due to getting married.
Fast forward to this past September while browsing YouTube I came across a 1969 Hurst Olds Tribute car for sale. At the time I owned a 2023 C8 Corvette which was great but it had already lost a lot of value and the maintenance cost were high. It was clear that I should return to my roots so I sold the Corvette and bought the Hurst Olds. The grandkids still don’t understand it but friends in my generation completely understand. In all the local car shows I go to I rarely see a 1969 442 and never a Hurst Olds. Yes it’s not a real Hurst but it’s actually about 80% correct. If it were real I’d be too nervous to drive it and that’s the point of buying it. Not gonna be a garage queen.
‘That’s enough for now,
Regards Alan

Nice, welcome.

For some of us Olds grabs our attention and never lets go.

Alan, please open a follow up thread in general discussion so we can chat. What an honor for us Olds Guys to see someone go from a lauded vette to an Olds. And your tribute was a pretty penny, as I have seen the ads so I am assuming a sideways move in that department. The issues you cited that helped make the decision surprised me. Especially considering C8s are thought of as the greatest generation. But looking into both issues mentioned... WOW. Shocking, high maintenance is usually an import thing. And vettes were probably the best holder of value in US car history.

Thanks

Thanks everyone! I’m about to head out and do some exhaust fabrication but I’ll try to respond and do it in general section later.
