Finding a good home ...
My son-in-law is intersted in selling his 1966 F85. We were looking for recommendations on how to find it a good home ... craigslist, eBay, AutoTraderClassic. etc. Any suggestions?

You have to find one buyer so the more people you can get in front of the better. Some people have had luck with carsonline.com too
The last few times I have looked at autotraderclassis it seems to have mostly turned in to a dealer site. Racing junk is another free one that I have had luck with.
Post pics here in the for sale section too. Its not the one in Austin area is it?

A good home is whoever comes up with the money for it. A lot pf people take this stuff prsonal but when the time comes to sell it has to be a business transaction. My friend has made some good money selling pretty average cars overseas thru EBay. Don't be scared off by it but proceed with caution. Also note to send a car out of teh country it has to be registered & insured.

Thanks for the input. I would post it in the classifieds if we could come up with a price. Based on the NADA info, I'm thinking it is worth between 8K and 10K. But I also saw one on eBay (from a dealer) for 17K. The car is located in Denver.

Pic's and a better description would help a lot.

If its clean and rust free I think you are on the right track. 17K for a plain original Cutlass / F85 is dreaming. You can find some pretty nice restored 442's in that range.

Well it looks to be a nice car! If it runs well, no smoke, shifts good, minimal rust, and good interior, I think your price is about right. You just have to get someone to fall in love! Just remember, anything for sale is worth what someone is willing to write a check for!
Good luck!

I would have to say that eBay has been bring a lot more money then the estimates generally posted on this and other similiar boards. There was one a few months back of a CJ7 Cali rust free Jeep with a V8. The girl was asking $6500 and then dropped it to $5500. She was told it was a $1000 Jeep and a few Jeep guys made private offers to her for $1000. She had to sell, she was moving out of state. She didn't say what she got when it sold, but did say it was near what she wanted. I guess $5000. Everyone on these vehicle specific boards are looking for a deal. If you go with eBay, include plenty of pictures, especially of the dirty or rusty areas.
Good luck, I'm going to put mine on Ebay real soon.

Looks like what you have is a "F85 Deluxe" model and you should list it as such. (It is not a Cutlass.) Looks like a nice car.
