Cleveland ohio Checking in.

Hey guys, I'm Dave from cleveland ohio, I have a 69 442 455 4spd car that I am getting ready to put under the knife here shortly. Its a non original drivetrain car, body is coming off and I am going to do the frame at the same time. Hopefully this summer it will be slammed on the ground with big brakes and EFI. Also if anyone has any advice on to were to buy the best quality rear quarters I am all ears. here's a pic from the day I picked up the car, I will have more up shortly. Thanks
Dave

Hello from Louisville! (Near Canton, not the KY one)
Looks like an awesome project! What's under the hood now, since you said it wasn't original?

Hello Fellow Buckeye, I'm in Braceville near Newton Falls. The 1969's are great looking A-bodies. Good luck with your car. Ken

Thanks for the welcomes guys. The motor is a 73 455 with c heads comp 280 cam long tube headers big oil pan and a scatter shield. I am going to convert to hydraulic clutch also. When I bought the car all the clutch linkage and pedals were botched although its an oridinal 4spd car. I purchased all the repo clutch pedal and linkage to find out that the later block isn't cast for a pivot ball. I ended up making a bolt on bracket and welded the pivot ball to it so it all works and drives now lol. But its not right so I think im just leaning towards hydraulic.

Welcome. I am from Wakeman (about 40 minutes West of Cleveland). The whole slammed with big brakes and wheels thing isn't my cup of tea but I do love '69's!

Welcome. The best quality rear quarters are good used OEM sheet metal. The only repros for the 69s are the poor-fitting Chinesium partial quarter panels. What's the story on the intake? It looks like an aftermarket plenum adapted to a single plane intake?

I made it, ifs a offy dual quad lower, ls1 mid ram base that I had to cut the front flange out of and move for the correct spacing and topped it off with a Holley high ram ls1 plenum . Also added the injector Bungs and made the fuel rails out of rail stock.

I don't need full quarters just the lower section and the wheel wells. I planned on buying repo quarter and just using what I needed

Very nicely done!

What's you plan for a controller?

I am going to use a ls1 harness and computer. Aem make a dual sync sender that will mount to the distributor shaft that emits the correct24x crank and 1x cam signal. This way I can tune everything with hp tuners use the coil near plug setup and just change the pin at the ecm for the correct injector and coil firing order. Hp tuners has a tab in the software to change firing order so that the misfire and O2 feedback for the banks would be correct then after the wires are switched.

I also thought about having a custom olds cam ground for the ls firing order since the crank throws are still the same. Its said that the New firing order reduces crank stress by up to 15%

Here's a pic of the inside of the manifold where I modified it and how I mounted the fuel rails.

Nice job on that manifold. Way beyond anything I could do. Car looks pretty solid to start with and who doesn't want a manual car!
