Cam change in a 307

Cam change in a 307

I have a 1986 olds307 vin y with 7a heads roller cam does anybody know if i can but a flat tappet cam in it

307 new cam ?

I have a 1986 olds 307 vin y with 7a heads an roller cam can i switch that cam out with a flat tappet cam cause i want a tad bigger cam

tappet bores are different, so sure, just buy the proper parts.

why tho? unless you are improving the heads and exhaust, aint much a larger cam grind is gonna do that a 350 wont solve by sliding it under the intake....

What are the specs on your roller cam? You won't be able to put a very big cam in a low comp 307 without seriously hurting drivability. A properly designed roller cam wil perform better over a greater rpm range than a similar flat tappet grind.

Plus with the roller you don't have to worry about what oil to use.

Replying to old thread, but as you have a roller cam to start, you can use Comp 262. Use 7.700 pushrodd and the Vin 9 springs.Consider a chip to modify your timing curve for the increased duration and lift, but keep your initial timing at 20 deg
