Brake drums for a 1962 Dynamic?

Who knows where I could buy new brake drums and shoes for a 1962 Dynamic? I been looking on line and been running around in circles. No luck yet.

Brake drums

eddieunderground, try USA Parts Supply they list them in the last catalog that I have. Part #SS.809S for front drums and# ss.017B for the shoes . Phone #703 335-1935.Fusick should also have them and quite often they are cheeper.....Tedd

USA Parts Supply doesn't show drums, front or rear, for anything older than 1964. The latest Fusick catalog doesn't list brake drums at all.

I think you'll end up having to find good used parts from a donor car, and you'll have to start scouring the internet, searching used parts places, and making phone calls if necessary. There isn't going to be any single source for this, unfortunately. You should post your needs in the Parts Wanted section. A number of people on here have parts, and somebody may have something for you.

Kanter has the drums, but if the drums and hubs are separate, I'm wondering why the later 11x2.5 drums don't work.

Can I use drums from a '64 on a '62.

I found some new drums for a 1964 dynamic. Would they work on a 1962? Does anyone know? Thanks.

A good way to answer a question like this, I've found, is to go to a site like Kanter.com, which sells brake drums for BOTH '62 and '64 Dynamic 88s, and see if they're the same Kanter part number. If they are, that suggests that the part is interchangeable for the two years. In this case, Kanter shows the same part number (02135C) for the front drums on '62 88s and '64 88s (except the Jetstar). For the rear drums, the part numbers are also the same (02226K).

To me, this says that those drums you found for a '64 Dynamic 88 should fit just fine on your '62.

Good luck finding a swage cutter to separate the drums from the hubs (if they have never been replaced).
