Well hi folks, newbie here. Some background my buddy was told to demo an old garage in north jersey. Finds a 54 olds 88 4 door that has been sitting for over 20 years. Owner told him to junk it
i told him i would take it sight unseen. Well after a $450 tow to my place in pa-she's mine. i was dissapointed to find her badly rusted but i can't see this thing go to get crushed. My other project car is a 280z with a 383 in it...so i'm not a total noob to cars but never anything in this age range. i have a million questions and can't wait to start researching and working on the car.

Welcome to the world of Oldsmobile.
Your first purchase should be a factory shop manual.
You can find them on E-Bay here;

It will definately make the job of resurrecting this beast much easier.

Welcome aboard.If it has lots of rust my advice is to buy another 54 with out as much rust and use the four door as a parts car. The cost of rust repair in time and money will more than offset the cost of a better car to start off with... Just my thoughts....Tedd
Very cool! Looks like a turd now, (like most of my cars) Hope you can bring it back or at least grab the good stuff off of it. You know this car will be a money pit, 4drs doesnt help, but it will be great accomplishment if you get it done!
Well the price sure was right. Based on the fact it is a rusty 4-door, I would either look for another car to restore and use this as a parts car or sell the parts. If it has power steering and brakes, those complete units are worth some money. Love the 54's.
