75 Olds Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)

I'm a new member of the Classsic Olds Club. I bought a neutral safety Switch for my 75 olds Cutlass 'S'. Just love the big chrome bumpers with the shock absorbing units and the 350 engine. Move over foreign imports. Here is my issue. I bought a NSS and didn't write down the switch wiring diagram. I thought my memory would serve me but alas its failing me I would like to get a close up snapshot of the NSS showing where the purple wiring and green wiring are plugged in. Can someone send me a snapshot?

Please help before the eye sight begins to fail!!!

Nick, Thanks for the snapshot. Your NSS looks different than mine. Here is a picture of the replacement NSS. Perhaps you can comment on the wiring.

Actually, the connections are easy. There should only be four wires that attach, two green ones for the backup lights and two heavy purple ones for the NSS. Unfortunately, some of the one-size-fits-all replacement switches have up to seven terminals. Install the switch, use a volt ohm meter to find the two terminals that are connected with the car in PARK, and attach the purple wires to those. Find the two that are connected in REVERSE, and attach the green wires to those. Ignore any other terminals on the switch.

NSS Wiring

Thanks Joe. Will try your suggestion. Sorry about the attachment - size limitation by the forum software

Installed NSS

Well, I installed the new Neural Safety Switch. Yes, the replacement does have additional connection prong blades. I installed (made sure the shifter tab was set correctly) with the prongs facing the firewall, I connected the purple plug to the left most prong blade. The green plug that has two connection inlets when direct over the steering shaft prong blades.

So, when I started the engine (in park) the engine turned over BUT the starter did not dis-engage. I quicking shifted to neutral and it dis-engaged. When I have turn off the inigition, has to be in neutral. Once off, shifted to Park. Yikes!!

Any thoughts on this new issue?
