72 Vista Cruiser 442 wagon

First time on the forum. Great site! I am building a 72 VC Wagon with 455 4-speed, new suspension and 71 442 front end. Need help finding roof glass, skylights and some interior panels. I am hoping to find a 70-72 wagon for a parts car. Are there any around?

Welcome fellow cruiser of the vistas.

There have to be a few around for parts?

See a lot in boneyard pics, think there's one on evilbay in the parts car listings but it's been on there forever and pretty bad, glass may be good though?
The rear door panels are unique to Vistas because of the larger door so they have to be from one.
They don't repo any interior parts except for the headliners and Cutlass trim parts they have in common so you have to find nice door panels if possible, seat covers duplicated at a trim shop with original type vinyl if you want the same pattern.
The roof glass is really hard to find in good shape , usually starts delaminating around the edges so check it out good.
The optional mirrored stuff goes for the really big bucks.

The car should be cool, check the one for sale here, sort of has a 442 vibe going. I want to get a flat top and do about the same thing someday.
If I coud find a factory 455 four speed three seat Vista I'd take that though.

Where are you located BTW?

I saw this on the Phoenix Craigs thing,

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/cto/1814308154.html

It's worth it in parts easy if it runs. He says he may part it out and to call with your parts needed list.
The coolest thing it has are the underdash gauges, I would buy the whole car for those.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I am located in Mt Airy, Maryland. Haven't met too many Olds fans around here yet....love the 60's and 70's classics. Been working on the wagon for a while....time to get the wheels on the road and catch up with everyone. Should be complete in a couple months. Thanks again to all

Welcome to the site Al. I've got a few odds and ends from a 1971 and a 72 Vista Cruisers in Oregon. There was one on the Eugene Oregon Craigslist not long ago. But shipping wouldn't be easy. I believe I've got some top glass but I know it's delaminating around the edges. If your going to the trouble of replacing it, it would be good to get a real nice piece. John

Welcome to CO. I am looking forward to seeing the progress on your car. Why don't you consider starting a thread in the major builds/projects forum and documenting the work done on it?

Al,

Let me direct you to the Capitol City Rockets, the local DC area OCA chapter. (Yeah, I know it should be "capital", but I didn't name the club )

http://clubs.hemmings.com/frameset.c...tolcityrockets

We meet once a month, alternating between a restaurant in Rockville and one in Springfield, VA. The next meeting is Sunday July 11 in Rockville. Our membership is split pretty evenly between VA and MD. We also co-sponsor an All-GM show with the Buick club at Montgomery College in Rockville. This year the show is Saturday Aug 14.

I'm located in Northern Loudoun County, near Brunswick, MD, and I spend a fair amount of time at Crazy Ray's in Mt. Airy. Also at the cruise at Jimmy Cone.

Looks like the life preserver from that mighty craft the SS Minnow.
Are land yachts required to have those and life preservers by the Coast Guard??

I don't know about that intermediate deal?
I'm put in the full size class at every show the Vista has been in so far.
I get squeezed from both sides like a skinny guy on an airplane flight sitting in the middle seat between Oprah and Rosie.
Imagine the horror if they both leaned over you to hug and girl kiss when they see each other.
You would be clawing for the emergency oxygen mask on the ceiling like a drowning rat.

I think it's the footage for the car show stuff, who said length don't count?
