72 Oldsmobile cutlass conv

Working on my cutlass and wanted to chat about and see if anyone can help with a few things. The first thing, tension rods in the trunk, does anyone knows how to put them on? Thanks,
Ed

Welcome to the forum! I am redoing my 72 cutlass convertible, but have not worked on the tension rods in 20 years... I am sure someone here will help!
Enjoy your ride!

Welcome, I have a 71 convertible. The torsion rods are one of the few things that is good.

There is a special Kent-Moore tool that grips the short end to provide the leverage needed to put them into place. I've used a piece of pipe to do the same thing. You probably know that there are three adjustment notches, allowing you to set the counterbalance force you like.

Hi Joe, I googled and found the tool place and they quoted me $85 plus shipping. I;m not cheap but I think it was very unreasonable for a tool I'm going to use once or can be made. With that being said, how did you make yours? thank you
