70 442 4spd Post w-30? from Valley of the Sun

Just bought a 70 442 4spd Seller claimed original w-30 but had no proof. Has repop inner fenders, And engine vin is the same as the car expect for the first number of the vin. The trans has been replaced but it has a TO rear with 4:33's. Its a F block with F heads and the early w-30 intake.

ST70 34477LAN309259 BDY
TR 937 19 19 PNT
12A
VIN 344770M214102
OPTION ARE: Bucket seats, Console, Hurst Shifter, Manual front discs, 4 core rad, boxed control arms rear sway bar, OAI hood with correct air cleaner, rear wing it appears to be factory installed on the trunk. Not sure how to tell if it is and original w-30 without paper work. I bought it knowing it was a 442 if its a w-30 that would be a plus.

I don't know what you mean by "the engine VIN is the same as the car except for the first number". The first number of both will always be a "3" to signify Oldsmobile Division. Your car does sound correct as an early Dec W-30, but the repop inner fenders always make me pause. Of course, unless you can find a build sheet or broadcast card, there is no other way to prove it's a real W-30.

Joe, The first # of the last six vin sequence is not correct. The last five #'s on the engine stamp match the vin. The first three are 30M.

Yeah, that sure sounds like a factory mistake. The odds of a replacement block being one digit off are far less likely than a factory mistake.

Where are most build sheets found on a Lansing built car?

In the trash can at the end of the assembly line, unfortunately.

You are far more likely to find a Fisher Body broadcast card, likely inside or under one of the seats.

If this is the car from Tucson it has been gone through by several knowledgable people and nothing found.

I have seen it several times and it appears to be a real W car but no documentation to prove it.

I believe this car was discussed on here before. Is it the one that someone put a external voltage regulator on?
