68 Delmont 88

I bought a 68 Delmont 88 Convertible new when I came back from Nam. I still have it. It is our vacation car. The speedometer is driven from the left front wheel. What do I have to do to connect it to the TH 400 Tranny? What gears do I need for the cable end in the tranny? Ken

Just replying after 6 years, but why won't you just connect it to the wheel like the factory?

This is a zombie thread, but FYI, the original trans won't have the hole in the case for a trans-driven speedo cable.

Unfortunately, unless you can find a rare and expensive NOS cable like the one in that photo, new ones do not exist. The end fitting that screws into the spindle is unique to the 1965-70 Olds full size cars. No one makes new ones. The 65-68 cable housings are different from the 69-70 due to the attachment at the speedo. 65-68 screw on, 69-70 use the snap-on retainer at the speedo.
