67 Toronado and 455 engine block question?

67 Toronado and 455 engine block question?

Hello, I'm new in town and have a 67 Toronado (My original first car from my teens) and just purchased a 54 Hudson Hornet (4 door) with what I'm pretty sure is a 455 Olds motor.
The block number is N668482 and was wondering if someone could direct me to a website to identify the motor?
There is a slim chance that it's not an Olds but from all info I have and a couple old hot rod eyeballs that seems to be the consensus.
Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the site Barry! Those numbers don't sound familiar to me, but here's a thread showing where to located the casting number and if the engine is 1968 or newer where the vin would be stamped. If this doesn't answer your question could you post some pictures for us?

A photo of the motor would remove all doubt.

A 455 in a Hudson Hornet sounds pretty cool, though... I'd keep it just like that (well, maybe channel it onto a Jag XK16 chassis... ).

I'm an old Hudson fan with 53's being my old high school car. A Hudson with a 455, what a sleeper thats gotta be loaded with a bunch of the cool factor, wished I could have done that in high school. ....Tedd

N prefix sounds more like a 65-67 425.

That's definitely an Olds 425 with a Chebby carburetor.

I like the dual-circuit master cylinder in the '54 Hudson.

Well, first I assume that "block number" is actually stamped on the cylinder head. That makes it a 65-67 motor.

Sorry, Eric, but that's a rookie mistake. The 1966 Olds Qjets used the side inlet. The carb in the picture appears to be a correct 1966 Olds setup, including the divorced choke on the intake. That makes the intake and carb, anyway, a 1966 piece, and I suspect the whole motor is a 1966 425.

I meant to add to my prior post that you should locate and tell us the BLOCK casting number, located above the water pump, next to the oil fill tube. That will confirm what block you have.

I also like the, ah, creative t-stat bypass and heater hose routing on the water pump.

Ooops. I had actually read about that somewhere, but forgotten.

That would be one of those early QJets with the round-stamped unit number and the funky diaphragm needle and seat, then, no?

I'm satisfied with the motor being a 66 model 425.
I'll get back with the other numbers to make certain.

Won't my 67 Toronado pretty much have the same exact motor except for the angle difference?

'67's used the side fuel inlet and divorced choke also.

The divorced choke itself isn't directly relevant, since it was used through 1969 (or were there exceptions?).

it's the manifold on the 67 Toronado that's at an angle correct?
