67 cutlass rebuild

Hey guys, started removing the heater duct work and all from my 67 CS, I removed the A/C evaporator and found out that spray foam was used as a sealant. The area is where the evaporator seals with the passenger side interior kick panel metal. Same area where cars with no A/C have the manual vent. Does anyone know of a gasket or such to go in this area to prevent water from filling up the passenger side flooring? Any and all help is great

Thanks Brian

Mine had that semi hard bead sealing. If you get the drain holes cleared and clean the junk out of the opening, should be fine.

Trying to figure out what you mean by "semi hard bead sealing" is that something I can buy pre-formed or permatex initially I was thinking once all together to try and put that windshield BUTYL tape in the opening ?

What are your thoughts

Thanks Brian

The stuff I'm talking about is black like caulk in consistency, but it dries hard. A thick permatex or body sealer (even thick rtv) should do the trick.
If you get the drain holes at the bottom of the evaporator opening clear, it should never be able to fill enough to get into the vent opening.

Mine actually had a gasket, a dense foam rubber one that deterioriated to mush. I can see it was a thicker heavy gasket, i dont think anyone repops them. Ill make on from some dense foam weather seal gasket material i got at ?Lowes or Home Depot. Cant remember which, its approx 1" thick sticky on one side.
