Hi,
I'm new to this forum and to Oldsmobile in general. First question is. how much is interchangable between a 371 and a 394? I've heard some claim intakes are interchangable and others says not. What goes?

Well, I live i Sweden and this is my second Oldsmobile. Bought the first one in 1976, a -72 Cutlass S. I usuallu drive old Ford's but my whife saw this 63 Dynamic 88 Convertible and thought it was a nice change to all Fords. It's in very nice condition except for that it smokes when idling. I'm going to put in new valv seals this winter. Don't know how to upload pictures so it may take some time before I figure it out.

I think the 394 was introduced in 1959 and there was also a 371 in 59 but there was a change in design and the pre 59 intakes will NOT interchange with the 59 and up. Some people think that the 57/58 J-2 can be installed on the later years 371 but the intake does not fit.

 

Too bad, there ar plenty of J2 intakes around in Sweden.
