1972 S 350 2bbl to 4bbl auto. orig. factory dual gate
hello from toronto,
i still have my fathers mint cutlass s, my son has started driving it now, and we have put the stainless dual exhaust on original stock ex. manifold. now he wants the 4bbl. i have an intake #398663 (69yr) and a rochester quadrajet #17058253 (78yr?). will these items match and work correctly without having to "magiver" anything? currently everything works like brand new, choke, kickdown , acceleration etc.
thank you in advance for any help!

The 69 intake has a divorced choke setup and that carburetor has a choke coil mounted to it. If you run an electric choke that part would be ok. If it were me I would find a 70-73 carburetor and run an electric choke. You could likely pick up a 7043250 carb for around or under $50. You will also need a 4 bbl throttle cable and cable bracket.

yes the car is pristine mint, wish I was more educated when I bought these items, got the intake last year and the carb last weekend in Carlisle. thinking an intake may cost less than a carb? is the intake I have of an special value?

It would be worth the same amount as a 72 4 bbl intake. I sell them anywhere for $40 to $75 each. Don't think I have any left though. I know I don't have a 7042250 carburetor. You could make what you have work but just not a correct setup. Not sure of the performance gain?

I am not too interested in keeping the car correct with a 4bbl, I will be maintaining the original 2bbl setup in storage in case it is ever needed. just want the kid to have fun, but I do not want any grief with the everyday running of the car.
where are these $40 to &75 carbs?! everything I see is huge money.
