1971 Cutlass - 1st Oldsmobile
Hi Guys,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Geoff from southwestern Ontario. I have just recently bought my first Oldsmobile. I am looking for just a reliable, fun car that is pleasing to the eyes. There's a few things i would like to address. The front seat upholstery is my first thing to tackle. I have a few other cosmetic things but mechanically it runs pretty good.
What are your thoughts?

Hi Geoff and welcome to the site. You have a nice looking 71 CS there. Without knowing much of the history of the car, I'd suggest that mechanical and safety issues should trump cosmetics every time. That color doesn't look like any of the 71 production colors. What is the car's original paint scheme? It's on the cowl tag.
As far as upholstery though, the original style panels and trim can be purchased through aftermarket vendors. One of the best on the market is Legendary Auto Interiors. They have one of the best reputations in the business and have great customer confidence and satisfaction. There are other suppliers such as Parts Unlimited (PUI), which some of the guys also like.
More pics and description of the plans would be great!

I appreciate the recommendation, and cannot agree with you more about being safe and mechanically sound, which I think at this point it is.
The paint is fairly new. 1 year. The previous owner did an excellent job at hiding the original colour. I will check in the tomorrow to find out what colour it was originally.
The plan as it stands now, is just to do the seats and see in the spring time if it requires anything else. At this point, and at the old age of 28, haha, I am going to leave the rest alone for the time being. Have other priorities that take precedence like my house and family. So maybe a few things here and there, we'll see.

A beautiful ride dude. Just what I'm going for with my '71. I say if the brakes are in good shape, the steering is nice and tight, and the shocks are good, then drive that thing and enjoy it as much as possible before the snow falls. Or has it already? Lol.
I'd like more pics of those Cragars. Do you know what size rubber you're running?

Ah the memories! Take off the black stripes and you have my first car... a 71 Supreme I bought at the ripe old age of 15. Had it painted that same orange and had the Cragars as well. Legendary is a great source for interior parts, and for a lesser cost PUI puts out a good quality piece as well. I'll agree with everyone else in just making sure it's roadworthy and then have all the fun you can. Brakes, steering, suspension/shocks. Make sure all of those are up to snuff and then just enjoy the heck out of it. Can't tell from the pics, does it have the sienna interior?
