I am trying to locate my old car...it was a 1967 OLDS DELTA 88 2DR
the vin# ends with X148528...it used to be white with black interior.

Yes, please post some more info. Where are you located? Texas is a huge state (AK is the only one bigger). Did you sell it years ago, was it stolen (hopefully not)?

 

The vehicle was sold with a BILL OF SALE by my younger brother in ROWLETT,TEXAS to JOE BELLOWS SALVAGE in 1992. I spoke with Mr. Bellows he had fixed up the car and his daughter drove it in college; Unfortunately Mr. Bellows has no recollection of it now.
I still have the ORIGINAL TITLE and ALL documentation from original purchase when it was new. My brother was forced to remove the vehicle from his property by his HOA; I do not blame him at all. He did what he had to do.

 

Joe Bellows Salvage was in Nevada,Texas. He closed the yard in 2001.

 

If you were in contact with Mr. Bellows then perhaps you could speak with his daughter. She might remember what happened to it. If that doesn't work then perhaps you could run the VIN with the state of TX to see if they have any info on it.

 

Thanks, My next step is to go to the TITLE DIVISION of the DMV in Carrollton, Texas. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I know.

So, in short, you lost track of the vehicle 25 years ago. I would say the chances of your finding it are close to zero.

Keep in mind that, even if the Texas DMV has a current record of the car, they probably won't tell you who the owner is, an address, or anything like that. Privacy laws now being what they are prevent this, and the current owner has a right to his privacy. Ohio has a nice site that lets you check the current title status of any vehicle titled in the state. But all they will tell you is the date the most recent title was issued and in what county. That's it.

 

When I was in college I sold my first car, a 1975 Chevy Caprice Landau. My father and I found it in a salvage yard in KCMO about 6 months after I sold it. I figure the kid I sold it to didn't put oil and ATF in it and it spun a bearing or fried the transmission or something. The drivetrain (Chevy 400 and TH 400) and interior were already gone, but I was able to get the rear trunk script off of it. Maybe someday I Will buy another. The problem is finding a Landau. Most of the 70s B bodies are convertibles or sedans it seems.

 

Ha ha. My father had a very nice 4WD '75 Suburban, with top-end interior, upgraded suspension, stripes, and an air horn - just a really nice car.
He sold it when he bought a brand new Chebby Van.
Next day he got a phone call from the buyer - car stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike - the buyer's kid had changed the oil and forgot to put the plug in, and I guess the buyer didn't ever look at the nice set of gauges in the car.
My dad jumped in his van and hightailed it out there, but the car had already been towed. A trip to the NJ Tpke impound lot is pretty much a one-way affair unless you've got a whole lot of money, so that was that.
Shame, because it was a really nice truck.
