1949 rocket V-8 engine

I was wondering if anyone would know what a 1949 rocket V-8 engine might be worth.

Depends on if it runs or not and how many miles it has on it. I bought my 1973 455 with TH 400 for $300. It was a good core that rotated with a wrench and was complete from the oil pan to the carburetor.

It doesn't run. I bought an old junk 49 oldsmobile that had it in it. It still has the old cast iron tranny bolted to it. It is the complete motor from the intake to the oil pan. It has no carb and no starter. I also have the original glass windshield washer bottle do you think that might be worth anything much. It still has the metal top on it but it is alittle rusty.

Welcome to CO. Condition is important. You might get someone willing to pay you a hundred for it without inspecting it but that would be pure luck. Most people in the market for an engine of that age would want it to restore it and therefore would probably inspect it carefully for cracks in the block. The same goes for the fluid bottle, corrosion on the metal top would be a negative. If you are trying to part this car out you should go to our classified section and start a thread in the "parts for sale" forum or possibly sell the whole car complete in the "cars for sale" forum. Good luck.

Check out Hemmings to see if there are others selling similar engines. I might put it in Hemmings and ask $300 obo.
