Anyone into Lionel trains?

I started selling off my grandfathers collection of Lionel trains. After he passed away two years ago we took 2 truck loads and a car load of Lionel trains out of his house. Here are some of the listings.

I placed a couple of bids, so eBay will keep track of them for me. I am thinking of getting rid of all my old Lionel train pieces, but just don't have any idea of price, so I will be watching your auctions. The one thing that I do know, is that there are a lot of them coming to the marketplace, since all us old guys are downsizing our homes, and divesting our hobbies. Good luck with your auction.

What I'm seeing in local auctions is that the accessory buildings are bringing more money than the engines and train cars, and older they are, the more money they bring.

Its almost a truism that kids love to play with the toy's box more than the toy...in Lionel's' case the box is often worth more than the toy.

Eric I am in the same boat as you, my Dad had them all my life, and I have a pile I need to do something with.

As always All the best with this and all your endeavors.

Got any American Flyer? That's what I have as well, kind of the odd ball - like Oldsmobile!

I do have just a few American flyer. I think only box cars and around 12-15 of them. I will see what is there and maybe post them here.

Got outbid already on the N&W Class J - will try again closer to end date. Eric, do you have any other Steam Locos in your inventory?

I always wait until the last 20 seconds of the auction to bid. I almost always win the item. That way you are not driving up the price unnecessarily. I learned that the hard way from a guy named 'sneakbid'. Finally figured out how he got his screen name..........lol

I should have several more steam Locomotives. My problem is that I don't know where to price them at. These are used and most of them are dirty from sitting on a shelf with no cover. They are all at my parents house and just take some off the top of the pile and list them. When those are gone I go get more. I have some that I have picked out to keep but most of them have to go. I hope to list 2 more listings this Sunday but that may be the end till after the first of the year. Here are some I am keeping.
