The revamp Part 2
#162
Well guys. Its pretty much done. The interior is very very minimal. All i have to do is new front drums and shoes and my gauges. From here its some street time and then the track.

The car looks good.
Curious though... Have you thought about lowering the ride height? It could just be the pictures but, the rear end looks a mile high and lowering it would greatly improve the rear suspension geometry especially since you drag race it. Of course this is assuming you're using the factory pick up points for the rear bars. Correct suspension setup can yield huge benefits in et.

Right rear looks a mile high but i have to loosen up those bolts currently a little too tight and binding up a bit. The car actually launches great at the track . Once i loose the bolts up it should level off a bit but i really dont want to lower it much more. Main issue is my drive way is steep. Its just a bearly low 12 sec sbo. Best 60 ft. With a tight 2800 stall was 1.71. Im gonna see what the weight savings will yeild then do a 3400 stall ajd hopefully get a 12.20 possible closer to the 12.10 ish area. Next engine should be solid 11's. Just enough for cheap fun.

Just a little update. Been chasing cooling system gremlins and shaking out the bugs. Put about 60 miles on Saturday and hit a local cruise night for a little bit. The cars big lopey idle always catches stares but this time they where followed with smiles and thumbs up. Did new shocks in he rear and loosened up the bolts a little and the rear end o sunday now it sits level. Still needs an alignment and the toe is off a bit and cambers negative if I park in reverse lol. That will happen this weekend. Hitting the drag strip in a few weeks.

although its been done im enjoying the fruits of my labor as they say. Local BOP race. In the far lane would be my good friend and member 67cutlassfreak. Probably the most fun i had at a BOP event in many many years. Lots of OLDS friends in the pits and stands.

Hey Copper, great thread! Reading your posts reminds me a lot of how I think and do things. Never be afraid to admit your mistakes, it's how you get better. I like how you aren't afraid to explain and show how you can always get better. We weren't all born knowing how to do this.
Also, anyone wondering about his bodywork techniques, it's exactly how I was taught and what I do. Different products do different things and it pays to learn when and how to use them. Act like a know it all and you'll never get better. I feel like we could be brothers as I have the same passion to learn and work my *** off. All I see is the finish line and I don't care how much it sucks or hurts to put in the work. Keep it up

Thanks for the kind words. I love my craft. To me this was a special project in a way because i got ti see how far i have come in 10 years. Working in a collision shop is different from doing resto work but i can honestly say i do the colliaion stuff with just as much passion as the resto stuff.

Copper you would literally be worth gold out here in California. We need honest/quality craftsmen like you out here. I need to find one to take my cars to. I wish I could be adopted by someone like you so I can pick up the trade. I have way too many projects and can't find anyone honest to do them. Maybe I can send you my cars one by one? Thank you very much for sharing all your intense labor.

The stripes where marbleized .It's a process using plastic sheet like thin mil masking plastic and letting it gently fall on the paint when it's wet and quickly taking it off and revealing the layers underneath.

Thank you. So much has changed since the repaint. I started doing a YouTube page thing about 2 years ago just for fun and I constantly have things going on.
