Oldsmobile Dream Race Car

I think often about the car I would want to build if I were to someday think seriously about getting back into drag racing.

It would be powered by a Pro/Mod type Super Charged 525ci Merlin BBC because RealOldsPower wouldn't be able to make enough power to be competitive.

I would basically buy a used P/M 1958 Corvette and have the front and rear of the body redone so it would look like the 1954 Oldsmobile Concept Car.

Just a FYI there pushing 1500hp with SBO nascar blocks........How much HP you want?

Bill Trovato's Starfire is running 7.90s and i think is street legal........If your building a dream car it should be Olds powered IMO......I almost have my dream car but I have been working on it since 1987...........

Never thought I'd hear "I can't get that kind of power out of an Olds motor" on this site.

No doubt that the BBC will be CHEAPER to build, I'll give you that one

Yes Jerry I know, I remember you, you were the first person to post a topic on oldsmobileracersonline.com

Bill's car street legal, please. I doubt it would ever could pass an emission test muchless other things.

To even make a Pro/Mod field, I would need atleast 2500HP.

I see license plate. Therefore it is street legal. Bet it's safer in a crash...

Street legal? Emissions?

All you have to do is get classic or antique plates. Makes the car emissions expemt in most states

The topics title was "Dream Oldsmobile Race Car" that I would want to build.

I meant to say I would just buy a used 1956 Pro/Mod Corvette and have the front redone so it would look like the Ed Earl's 1954 Oldsmobile Concept Car.

I don't think it would take much to make the changes. Here's a Pro/Mod 1956 Corvette that I would love to buy and make the changes to and then paint it gold.

Too bad the title of this section isn't "Major Builds and Projects I Wish I Could Do"...that being said, why is this here?

Bump for a move to General Discussion
