Wow! If I didn't like red so much, I would so totally rip off your paint scheme. That looks fantastic.

How did you get the stance and what rims/size/backspace ect. ?

Damn, that looks good.

18x7 in the front. we went with the 7 to be sure it was going to clear the fender once I lowered it. 20x8 in the back. Zero offset. Got the wheels from Coys. Could have gone 18x8 in the front with 20x8.5 in the rear, but I'll get some quality adapter/spacers to make up for it. Used cutlass springs to bring it down. I wanted to do air ride, but the budget wouldn't allow it. At least this way, I can easily put it back to stock in an afternoon if need be. thanks for the kind words.

Thanks. It was getting dark out when I decided that I needed some more current pictures. As soon as I finish the interior and buffing the paint I'll get my professional photographer brother to take some really nice shots of it. Right now I'm afraid he'd take some really nice photos that would capture every flaw.

Don't put adapters/spacers on your car unless you never drive it. My dad (Oldsguy) had bolt pattern adapters on his 69 Delta 88 for a time and one of them came loose when he was driving down the road. Luckily he was only going about 30 mph. Unfortunately, he had body work done on the car about 6 months earlier and it damaged the rear fender. I would never suggest for anyone to use adapters/spacers on their vehicle. They aren't for road use.

Gorgeous!!!! Where did you get the bracket for the Sanden compressor? I am looking to go that route with an upgraded compressor.

It's actually the original brackets, slightly reconfigured of course. The only downside is that I can't adjust the belt tension. I plan to change that later, but no hurry because the tension is fine the way it is now.
If you want I can get some pictures of it up close & from different angles. Just let me know.

Tire brand, size? I'm trying to find the right wheel/tire combination that will fill out those giant wheel wells.

I had already lopped off a coil in the front and it still sits a little high. What year cutlass springs did you use? Are they all the way around?

85 Cutlass springs all the way around. Could have probably done a little more research and found something that would have put it just a tad higher in the front and a tad lower in the back. I was under the car the other day & noticed a scuff mark on the rear edge of the oil pan. Just have to be more careful on rough driveways.

I cheaped out on the tires because of my dwindling budget and went with Fuzions. 235/40 and 255/35. Again, could have gone bigger. I'll go ahead and burn these off and get some bigger ones if I can ever get it running right.

I am also a huge fan of the trim removal along the bottom of the car. I was unsure how it would look if I didn't bother putting it back on after paint. It really looks cleaner. Leaving the Delta 88 emblems on is definitely more gooder. The red pin stripe sets it off well.

I'm glad you left the center trim on the good. Nothing better than getting sun glare off of that strip of chrome as you are racing down the highway.

More pics pleeeeeeze!!!!! Glamor shots not needed.

I was thinking about doing just a thin smooth rocker molding, just to separate it from the ground a little bit, but I'm not sure. I'll set it up there and see how it looks.

I lost my before shots. You wouldn't believe how rough this car was.
Here it is midway through. Haven't taken too many photos, kind of trying to just get it done before I show it off too much. If you've seen my epic thread in the Big Blocks section, you already know that it may be a while still.

Thanks!
Hope this helps. It was kind of tight with the camera down in there. I'll try to get some better ones next time I have it out in the light.

The first one is the main bracket utilizing the 3 original mounting holes in the block. Once I had this on there, I knew I was going to be able to make it fit.
The second one is C shaped bracket the I ran from the outer most bolt hole on the block around the compressor to the outer, lower front mounting hole.
The third is the long straight bracket that I trimmed the end off of and ran from the block up to the lower rear mount on the compressor.
The nice thing about the Sanden is that is has 8 possible mounting locations. The main bracket took care of two of them, so I figured two more on the opposite side should be sufficient.
Once I had it mounted, I ran masking tape around the pulleys and marked a line, one line across both ends of the tape. Laid the tape out on the floor and measured from mark to mark. Some of the autoparts stores have the belts length listed on the website under the product description, autozone is one of them. Since apparently no one at a parts store counter knows what "longer" or "shorter" means, I surfed the site for about fifteen minutes, found a belt that was the length I needed and bingo. Perfect fit.

I hope you are right. That's what I'm hoping for. Even if I don't win, I still get to drive it and have the satisfaction of knowing that I did it all(or almost all) myself. And that's a good feeling.

Will them springs work on my 65' Jetstar 1 wait, I don't have springs in the back ? Any help would be great thanks. Also you think 19 x 8 w/ 245's would clear my front wheel wells? They will be chrome Iroc Rims they stick out a little wider I think.

I think that springs are the same from 65-66. I know the rears are the same for Delta & jetstar.
19x8 will fit fine as long as you get your offset right. on these cars, you generally want to stay near zero offset.
Plus or minus a few mm to get it just where you want it depending on how wide your wheel is. I generally want as much offset as possible to still be able to turn without hitting the fender. Most wheels look best when they are out as even with the wheel well lip as possible. My opinion. Some cars, or at least set ups look best with 15s and 16s that might have been available when the car was originally hitting the streets for the first time.

You kind of threw me with that one. Is the car just sitting with nothing to hold it up? or has someone altered it? Going to need you to be specific if you want advice.

Very nice car! I love the 1966 B-body lines. I have a 1966 Dynamic conv. buried in one of my buildings for 10 years. I hope I live long enough to dig it out and fix it Something always comes up to stop me. Good luck, Ken

I do have springs in the back Would help if I got my lazy *** under there to start with. I was wondering if you think I could get away with 20 x 8.5 with a +10mm low offset (fronts 245/35/20)(rears 265/35/20). There are also 20x8 with a 0 offset (fronts 245/35/20)(rears 255/35/20). I know you said 19's would be fine up front but the 20 inch package is alot cheaper way to go. Which ones would be closer to the wheel wells? Thanks for all the help

I'm still here. Just haven't made any progress lately. A lot of other stuff going on. I've got the crankshaft at the machine shop, everything else checked out ok in the engine. I still don't have the pistons, hopefully soon.

You said go with a zero degree offset for both front and back? It looks like I'm going to have to go with 18" front and 20" backs. I don't believe they make 19" Iroc style rims.

I went by to check on the engine today. The crank has been fixed and she's ready to drop the pistons in. Unfortunately I'm still a little broke, so I can't spring the cash to get the pistons and balancer that I need to finish it up. I'm going to have to get creative and figure out some alternative funding sources...

Getting anywhere with your rebuild? I really would love to see more pics of your car. I showed a friend of mine, and he didn't believe that it was the same car that I have. Interior shots would be the bestest.

I had some financial set backs so I had to focus on some other things for a while. I'm back on it now. I just got the headliner and carpet in. All i have left to do on the interior is upholstery on the seats and side panels.
I finally got the parts I needed to get the engine back together, so I hope to find the time to get that done. Hopefully I'll have some more updates coming real soon. If all goes well I'll have it finished for spring.

JASON!!! That is one very hot looking Delta 88, Nice work, I love how it sits and looks without all the chrome trim, I have the same idea for my Delta but I'm gonna put the Starfire wheel well trim since its full, I think she'll look good. But yeah....10/10 on your car.
