more progress on 68 cut. con.

I am really pleased with Rogers work. He has been taking pictures to document the step by step progress for my scrap book. I met him, and his wife at a car show in Tomahawk wis. He was displaying his 66 Pontiac Tempest, and my wife and friends stopped to look at it. He saw us, and came up to greet us, and tell us about the work he put into it. A very nice looking car I must say. Now for some reason I never mentioned that I had a 66 tempest too. It was my wife that mentioned it. It needed restoring and out of the two projects I have the tempest was in much better shape then the cutlass. I have always wanted a 68 cutlass. So I wanted it done first. They both have a nice roof over their head. So they should last along time before I get to them. After chatting with Roger about my projects and the inexperience with body work, he said that he would do the body work if he wasn’t rushed to get it done. This project was in limbo and not going any where. So when offer his service I agreed. So that’s how I met him .

well that all for now, thanks.

wow , that is looking great ! How bad do the rear qtr's have to be in order to replace them entirely ? I ask cause one side on my car needs a patch panel and the other needs a little more , I'm begining to wonder about replacing all of it

I really am no expert on this, but in my own opinion, you should leave as much of the original metal as you can. I mean factory metal. If your quarters look like Swiss cheese or smashed in like my driver side was, then I would replace them. It kind of depends on the person doing the body work too, and what he is comfortable doing. It may be better to replace the quarter then fix what ever damage it may have.

Unless you're doing a 1000 pt restoration and have NOS panels to use I would only replace the areas of the panels that are in bad shape. I used the repro 1/4 panels and outer wheelhouses as patch panels and only replaced the badly rusted and damaged areas
