I wonder if "Rob" ever got his car to last. It seams they had to redo the engine a couple of times and never heard any more about it. Plus he had to pay a bunch of money to repair they screw ups.

so your engine is still at the machine shop? Have you talk to Mondello in Tennessee?

“Both rod and main bearings had more than 0.0035-inch clearance, when they should have been in the 0.002–0.003-inch range..."

Guess the previous builders read Bill's book.

I think RRP is one of those builders. This is like a horror story i would have inversted the time in a diffrent engine after it pooped out once.

This was posted over on ROP a few months back.
I've read both articles, and in my mind they contradict themselves. They acknowledge that the blocks need help in the stiffness dept but yet run a .300 shorter rod in it. That's puts more stress on everything.
The caps walk around on these things. But it should live with the bigger clearances and a heavier oil.
They also admit later that it had "mild detonation", but enough for the head gasket to leak. Again contradicting themselves in the state of tune.
They screwed up as well, plain and simple.
