Club coupe period correct 442
Well this year has been eventful with some once in a life time kinda scores.
well preserved club coupe 442 yes it’s a Fremont build and I know the deal
can’t decide if this will be a back burner while collected hard to find parts or get it running and enjoy a period correct icon.
claim to have purchased in 67 last licensed in Cali September of 1980. Son inherited it in 2011 and wanted it to go to a good home was very hard for him to sell but we worked about a great deal for both sides
found oil change recites from 1972,3,4,5,6,77
With owners name
Found this very cool home built spacer
Great fit headers
Home built dual snorkel
Breather for the dual Snorkel both sides and relocated horns

It would be hard to touch or change anything on that car. Early Stewart Warner gauges. All of it. That car is screaming untouched since the late seventies easy. Hence the RadioShack tach!! Score!!!!

Very cool car! You could certainly fully restore it, but I think it would be cool to leave it as is with all of the classic speed parts. I would clean it up, get it running and make it safe and reliable but otherwise leave it as is.
Good luck with the project!

Love seeing pics of this car Justin. It’s awesome.
I’d restore it AND possibly keep a few of the vintage speed parts on it.
Great find!
And look, you already found a missing part!

Pulled all the plugs out some atf and pb blaster mix in all the cylinders didn’t take much to turn engine over crank by and for amount 30 min and added oil in between full rotation changing oil tomorrow and going to spin engine with the air gun for a few and drain oil and inspect. Cut open old oil filter and new let’s hope for the best

That's the oldest MSD box I have ever seen!
Any idea what gears are in that 12 bolt?
Also after spinning the oil pump with the drill, rotate the crank and then spin the pump again. Repeat this cycle a couple of times.

Well made alittle progress got it in the garage and installed some ss1 wheels, removed front and rear seat hoping to find a build sheet with no luck.
this thing is pretty solid I have to say it’s truly just mostly surface rust with no major body damage that I can see. I cleaned out fuel tank. Tank looks like it’s been dropped recently with new rubber fuel lines and rubber brake lines..
removed distributor changed oil and filter and ran oil pump with my drill. Installed distributor dropped a little fuel down carb and she fired up.
going to run off a fuel can to see if there is anything odd. This weekend.

Justin, I looked at the pictures and a couple thoughts hit me. That didn't look like a factory bellhousing but an aftermarket scatterproof one. Then the rear end, is that a chevy 12 bolt? You might want to get the casting numbers off the pumpkin to key out what it originally came in.

I haven’t called the guy yet to ask if his uncle might know what happen to the original but my guess is the Muncie trans bell housing broke and maybe took a ear off as well. It has a bog Warner 4 speed. Or maybe it was a 3 speed car and it would make it even rarer.
I am wondering if the heat shifter is original as well I know some came with it. But not sure if it’s the correct one either

yes very cool vintage performance. The family history on this thing is amazing. Brothers both had their cars and were constantly racing each other
I hope the seller gets back to me. I asked some questions that he was going to ask his uncle about the car.

Original paint under the tail lights. I am super surprised they didn’t remove them for the full paint job that was done.
also replaced the tail light lens and bar that was broke.
still need to find a oem/patina rear 442 emblem
pulling engine to go through it going to put a 455 in for the summer went through brakes and all rubber lines fuel/brake have been replaced
