64 F-85 Coupé repaint

Hey guys

I'm working on my '64 F-85 Coupé. The previous owner had been in some accidents which left some scars. These are being fixed and I thought that this would be a good time to paint the car black.

Hood, trunk and that little piece beneath the wipers whose name I don't know. Now some pics of the process:

Some pics are taken with my cellphone and others with a normal camera. This is why you will see some difference in picture quality.

Trunk primed:

Hood. A lot of dents here. Can you see "The Face"?

Trunk ready for paint

Trunk painted along with that other wiper thing. :P

Next up were the front fenders. A lot of damage on these. Took forever to straighten them up.

I haven't been able to find a new side list (Correct?) so I had to remove the mounting holes for it. I like the look without it.

At this point some things happen and long story short I got kicked out of the workshop where I was working on the car. So from now on everything is made in my garden and driveway. Sucks but the show must go on This also means that I can't work when it rains and it rains alot here in Denmark.

Previous owner had some EGGE decals on the car. I took them off and the paint came off as well leaving holes and an uneven surfaces.

And this is where I'm at now:

Ready to be sanded down and primed.

More to come I hope. Sorry for my english. I'm not very good at the names of different car parts and such. Hope you understood it anyway!

Cheers

- Anders

EDIT:
Engine is a 350" '68 Olds Edelbrock manifold, Edelbrock 750 Cfm Performer carb, MSD Superconductor ignitions wires, Be Cool Cooler with two electric fans, Aftermarket electric fuelpump (don't know which) and Mickey Thomsens street slicks. I've been told by the previous owner that the engine is totally rebuild at EGGE but I don't know if this is true.

That's true dedication when you have no place to work, and your garden becomes a bodyshop! Good work....keep it up!

thats cool, keep up the good work.
that sure is determination!!!
you have done more in that garden than some will do in a furnished shop.
my brother had a 72 Cutlass for 20 + years he was waiting till he had everything
he thought he would need to do it right. Never got it done. I would rather see someone
put one together in the driveway than let it rot away.

keep us posted..........

Looks like you are progressing well, I'm not sure that EGGE does engine rebuilds, though they are a supplier/manufacturer of hard to come by engine parts.

Thanks guys. Progress is already a lot further. Pics will come this weekend

1969w3155, Okay so they are making pistons and rods for the 350? He could have meant that he replaced them with forged pistons from Egge? That would be nice. Hehe.

Some pics of the progress

oldshvidtidligtforfra.jpg

hvidoldstidligt.jpg

She had a lot of scars and some rust problems which I took care of.

hvidbagskaerm.jpg

The fender was dented so I put in back in place and tried to cover up the operation. I think it went well. The holes in the body have been welded and filled.

oldshvidside.jpg

More sanding.

hviddoerspartel.jpg

Driver door welded ready for further attention.

Oldsgrundetforfraslebet.jpg

After several layers of filler and primer.

meregrunderogslib.jpg

The roof and the parts around the windshield were a PITA!

Oldsbagudfremgrunder.jpg

Almost done

sortkaros.jpg

oldssort.jpg

Most of the body painted. Ran out of time and air hehe.
My GF in the picture follows the build and drops by several times a day seeing my progress. I'm not sure whether its the build it self or the time before the driveway looks proper again shes looking forward to

Bad camera settings only came out with this one picture. Will get some more soon!

Cheers, Anders

you have to love and appriciate the fact the entire yard is used for workspace, panels lying in the garden, panels lying on the patio furniture, clearly a move done by a true car lover, when i re-did my f85 i had parts all over the place.. keep up the good work and congrats on saving another one from the graveyard

Thanks for the comments guys. The yard is now available for other uses than part storage.

Primed and ready

Rear assembled. Looking good I think

bagfraaabenklapsamlet2.jpg

Need to do some welding in the trunk. This will be painted later.

Gold in the engine bay hehe

loeftertilhjelmmonteret.jpg

Front bumper, grille headlights and so on installed

merefront.jpg

Hood on. We're close now

frontaabenhjelm.jpg

sorthjelmpaabil.jpg

And a pic with the happy owner

BACKINBLACK.jpg

To do's:
1. Adjust front bumper. This is a PITA! Is my bumper deformed or is this normal?
2. Buy some clips for the panel which is missing on the hood.
3. Get my wiper motor working
4. Get wiper blades
5. Get clips to mount the F-85 emblem
6. Make new doorpanels
7. Make new rear shelf and put in speakers
8. Install new headliner
9. Install headunit and find place for front speakers
10. Take out the current tachometer, buy a new one and install it
11. Get new tyres
12. Install B&M floorshifter

That's it for now. Maybe I'll start on something else next year or this winter.

Hope you enjoyed the pics and my project for the last two months.

Best regards

Anders

Nice work, you may have to elongate the hood hinge holes to allow the front the the ginge to drop in order to get the hood to sit flush. These front bumpers can be a bear to get right.
Enjoy!

Haha thanks guys!

1964f-85 , elongate? What does that mean? English isn't my first language so sorry for the minor vocabulary.
The arms for the hood have been mounted as low as possible. It wood be nice to get it a little lower so that the hood won't stick out.

Enjoying my vacation driving around for seven hours today. It was awesome.

Cheers!

But you know what Hog Washers are? Your English is excellent. Elongate = to lengthen or make longer. Very impressive job. Good luck with it.

I will look into elongating my hood hinge holes

Hog washers = Bib overalls
Elongate = make longer

As a mod I can't use it in the sentence I'd like to
