My cost im hoping will be around 28k. I plan on helping to keep cost down. Are you doing a total frame off resto and engine rebuild. Is it the original engine?

Gotta love Viking Blue 71-72 ragtops.

Just to add my two cents, I've had two '72 4 speed Supremes with the hood louver inserts and none of mine were painted.

I'll be watching this resto thread.

Thanks vette I am leaning to wards not painting as well as I think they look better that way - at least that is my preference as there is not much chrome on the hood area.

To the best that I can tell:
1971 hood louvers are painted body color
1972 hood louvers are black

I own 2 71 442s & one 72 442 with the louvered hood, and they are all original paint cars. I also followed several other original paint cars and that theory held true until I saw the saddle bronze 72 U code original paint at the 2009 Nationals. Its louvers were painted body color, so my theory may be full of BS.

Had to remove passenger door and order a new skin.
Thanks to all that helped me with that process.
New skin should be here on Wednesday.

Question - can anyone help with the proper colors for the engine compartment? Would I be better to buy the booster and if so where?
Does anyone have a pic of a proper engine area color and detail?

Looking good, keep the pictures coming.

P.S. My hands already hurt just thinking about all that sanding you're doing.

Compared to what I am used to working on, that car is really clean. I guess the new sheet metal helps too. Looking good, nice work.

Does anyone know if the bottom piece is still available for the charcoal cannister?

Thanks

This is out of the 72 Service Manual, it should be close to what you are looking for.
One scan shows both running over the finder-well, and the other path over the intake/valve cover.
I choose the finder-well route because I did not have the proper cable tube that mounts on the back of the block and valve cover brackets.
I hope this helps.

It goes over the inner fender as shown for automatic cars and along the valve cover on 4 speed cars.
