What modifications did you do to the crossmember or floor pans to get the gear vendors to fit in the tunnel?

 

I had to pry on the floor a little bit. And when I had the car on the rotisserie I clearances the floor brace with a hammer a bit. It's not to bad fitting it in there.

Guys, I purchased front and rear bumpers from Tamaranz. I can't believe how well they fit and how good the plating is. I'm very impressed considering that the were made in Taiwan. The above picture has the front one installed. I'll post rear photos soon.

You mentioned trying to find someone who might be able to fabricated some wheel centers. These guys might be able to.

Their website is worth a visit!!! I didn't know they were the ones who did some of the wheels for Dave Kindig's wild cars.

That means you can drive and not feel sick about it. The way it's put together I imagine it will drive better and run just as hard as the original. I love it. Beautiful car.

I have to get bigger front tires.

 

I think it just needs to be lowered some to make the tires look more at home. Since you have the coil overs it should be easy.

 

Hood and scoop are finally on. Now is't on to wiring and AC.

GWell guys I'm up in the air. I got the car up and running drove it around the block and spun a rod bearing.�� I have a 400G I can put in till I decide if I go back with a 455 or go against the grain and.... You guessed it..... LS3.

Pros-
Drivability
Gas mileage
Crazy power
Cheap parts
And sounds really good with the circle track 525 cam.
Lighter weight

Cons-
Not an Olds!
Change trans
Change over expenses. I.e. Electric fans, accessories pully kit, electric fuel pumps
etc.

Spoke with Mark Remmell he's my hook up for a 455 build������ but the 455 would be
More than the LS.

It's not going to be a garage queen. I want to drive this thing!

What are your thoughts?

Mark can build you something nice and then you'll be back at home with a 455. Stick with the Olds

 

I am very sorry to hear about your engine. But I think you should stick with an Olds engine.

 

My .02 cents worth. As much as I am an Olds enthusiast and into the originality of Olds.

You want to drive it and be fun to drive be reliable and easy to repair when there is issues and will be cheaper in the long run.

My vote goes towards the LS motor.

My 68 convert has the numbers matching 350 with the 2 speed tranny and even thou it is fun to drive there is no real thrill to it. I am in the process of building a 455 that I have in my Toy Box and behind will be a 2004r tranny.
Car will still look original when it goes by ya but a hell of a lot more fun to drive. No one needs to see under the hood. I just want to drive the car and enjoy.

 

Very very nice work, I vote for an olds motor too but I understand the attractiveness of an LS, which is fine if you want a chevelle LOL...


Anyway up to you, My god I am so far behind in my own tribute build....

Trip deuces, Yea, I know Mark can knock it out of the park. I bought my cam and had him do my head work on my iron heads for the 455 in the YouTube link. We live close to each other to boot. That's a huge advantage for someone building me an engine. But the LS keeps bouncing around in my head. I'm torn. Because of my affection for Oldsmobiles.

 

Awesome build with a very hi level of detail.
I would stick with the Olds engine you just have to have it built right.

 

Well gentleman, after much deliberation I shall employ mister Remmells services and build one hell of a 455 Olds.

Thanks for the kind words! Yea, Tim did a fabulous job on his ride as close to the real thing as one can get. My car is just a different take on an "Olds" theme. Lol

As for the motor....I'm on Marks waiting list. I'm swapping in my 400 G for now just to get it on the road. It will give me time to sort out the gremlins and build the engine the right way. Now....get to work out n yours! Lol

 

I can't even think of the words to describe what you did. Totally awesome! I had the pleasure of meeting Tim and seeing his car up close. It's over the top ridiculous. The nicest I have ever seen including all the hardtops I have seen. You guys have set the bar real high. Great looking cars!
