Was able to get 2 coats of primer on today and wet sand. Looking pretty good I want to give it another coat tomorrow. Have a few little dings to fill as well.

Thanks Drew, 3rd coat of primer went on today with wet sand and filled some small dings that became evident. I sanded it with 400 and feel there is enough primer there now. Did not break thru the primer to metal so next time I will start to spray color. Hope you get what needs to be done before it gets too cold!! Keep the pictures coming on your build.

No picture but I have 3 coats of white lacquer on the body. I figure 2 more coats and that will be enough. Looking for a nice day this weekend to spray!

Are you painting outdoors? How do you keep the critters and dust off of it?

Yep painting outside with Lacquer. It dries to the touch in about a minute or less. Should a tiny bug land and stick you just wait for the paint to dry enough to sand and wet sand it off, no problem. Should any bits remain they give the paint body!

I bought two turnpike cruisers yesterday. One is a almost done restoration and the other is an original driver. Very similar cars, both saffron yellow with black interior, the driver has buckets with column shift the other is a bench seat otherwise driver painted black top and other vinyl top. had one years ago as well.

Will be posting the driver for sale in a few weeks. Need to finish the other one. It has been painted, new top and new interior, bumpers new and engine and trans rebuilt. Needs reassembled some.

Will post some pics soon

Thanks Drew, well the painting is finished as well as the sanding and buffing the body. It looks nice! Now I need to start sanding and buffing the hood, fenders and trunklid then start assembly. It is an exciting time to watch all parts going back on. Will post some pictures when it starts looking like a car again!

Well, I have time to myself. Kids are grown, wife leaves me alone, and the shop is my escape! These projects have been my vacation too (time spent) although I must say the home projects have been put to the side and I really need to get into them! But the cars are surely more fun!

While at Carlisle I ordered new seat covers from Legendary. The old ones are so dull, stained and starting to go. With the new white paint they really look bad.

Slowly the car is coming together. Am mostly working with the trim trying to get it all lined up. Still need to sand and buff the hood and mount front bumper and get the new covers on the seats.

Eric and Drew thanks as always, the pressure is off now that the paint is all but done. I have a few areas to touch up. You know, the little knicks and scrapes that at least for me are unavoidable during assembly!

Thanks Eddie and ED..... Ed I wish it were that far along for Saturday. Guess we have to go to ATCO in the plain old 442 again! Better dress warm as it may not make 50 degrees. I hope there is no wind!

No pictures yet but have been getting a lot of "loose strings" taken care of. Got the radio in but would love to have the rare and pricy AM Fm unit. Hooked up the heater controls and got the passenger door panel mounted. Front bumper is on and I found a nicer grill. Now I look at the lap belts and they need to be soaked and cleaned. Even being black they look dirty. The rear seats are back and look great. I picked them up today and dropped off the front seat. The shop was amazed on how well the Legendary covers fit. I got my G78-14 repop tires mounted and need to clean up a set of hubcaps. I still need to clean up a set of hood hinges and mount the hood. The driver's side chrome needs to be mounted yet as well. Lastly I have to start saving up for the new headliner.

Thanks Drew and Eddie. Not to tout my shed but the woodburner is really nice. Heat up the space take off the jacket and putter away. Happy to say still picking away at the interior and all trim is about mounted. Got to buff out that hood and bolt it on, then I will bring out the camera.

Eric, I just remembered that someone bought this car and actually drove it to our DVOC fall show. He was only a mile or 2 from the show so it was a breeze! The car looked the same as the pictures. I asked the owner what his plans were for the car and he said he loved the original look/patina and loved driving it as is. The car drew lots of attention at our show and unbelieveably won Best of Show. While voting was done by participants it was what it was but I felt it was a slap to those whith really nice cars. Just my opinion.

Just to comment a little more, I thought it great that the car was purchased and on the road again. I always like to see that rather than a car being parted, but who knows where it will end up still. The expense to restore would not seem worth it to me. The owner was resealing the windshields and asking for parts sources. if I am not mistaken I believe he also worked or owned a body repair shop. Cool.
