I am beginning the process of restoring a fairly sound 1964 Olds Starfire. As I have not previously done a GM restoration, I am at loss to source some of the parts I will need. Top of my list are the following items: battery tray/compartment; seat foam; front seat upholstery;and door panels. My car also needs a radiator and the total exhaust system but these last two I think I know how to obtain. Any thoughts on how to obtain my needed items, and/or suggestions or helpful links would be greatly appreciated. If any of you out there have any of my needed parts for sale I would be happy to talk to you. Thanks for any help.
Body and trim parts are not made new for these cars, so seat foam, door panels, etc. will have to be NOS from ebay or from parts cars. Your best bet on this site is to make a specific list of items needed (for example, don't just say "door panels," but say, "upper door panel for the passenger side" or whatever it is) and posts it in the parts wanted forum. Many people on this site have parts cars or a stash of parts, but they need to know specific needs, not generalities.

Start making a list of what you need. I can tell you that interior parts.....can come from other Olds models. The seat covers, door panels are Starfire only and have to be renovated. The upholstery material is available from local upholstery shops, but you'll need to have them fabricated.
I had my radiator re-cored. I haven't looked at exhaust yet.
Battery tray is part of the core support. It's also designed for an obsolete Group 60k battery. Unless you can find a good rust free one it will be a fabricated piece.
A trim shop will have to supply upholstery materials. No premade and part of it is leather, which can get expensive depending on interior color. An Impala vendor may be able to supply seat foam or padding.
Exhaust. Correctly done incorporates chambered headpipes and front and rear resonators.
Bright trim. All that Starfire-specific trim is expensive to buy or restore. Rear bumpers are notorious for rotting out around the mounting brackets.
But you'll have a stunner of a car when it's done.
I have two of them and parts books covering 64. I'll try to help as I can.

This is my new thread to follow along with and learn. I recently purchased a 63 Starfire with factory AC that appears to be an original 36K mile car. Although some components maybe a bit different than a 64. My car could be a resource for pictures or certain things...for you and others. Let me know if I can help.
Thanks you guys for all your thoughts and suggestions. I'll keep you updated as work progresses. As recommended I will put a detailed list of the parts I need in the forum's parts section.
Look forward to cruising my restored Starfire and meeting some of the forum's members once this COVID 19 threat is under control..
Just read your thread on the Hurst shifter. I have not gotten very far on my restoration, but might be interested if price and condition is right. Do you have photo? Is it complete (missing nothing). OEM, used or restored? And, oh yeh, what do you want for it? Keep in mind I haven't got my Biden COVID check yet.
