Now as the restoration of my 1966 442 is reaching its end this weekend, I need some recommendations on how to clean the vinly bucket seats and the side-panels.

They are pictured in my album and used to be parchement, are in good shape (no scratches, not torn), but they look dull and used.

So, whats a good thing to bring the orginal shine back in ?

hi Alex. I imagine you have regular household bleach there (Clorox?).

I would dilute 1/3 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, soak and wring out a cotton towel, wipe thoroughly and repeat. Do it a last time with just fresh water on a wrung out towel.

I like Pledge furniture polish for shining up vinyl. They come in wipes here, but any lemon flavored furniture polish is a good finishing touch.

 

So how's that volcano affecting you, if it is at all?

 

that volcano brought most parts of the continent to a full stop, but airports start to re-open.
except for the nordics, who are really close to Iceland.
and except for the UK.. but the continent is isolated again, not them..

 

We've heard this, but I wondered about your daily life. If you look up, can you see the sky, or is it just one big cloud of ash blocking the view? Do you even go outside, or is there ash raining down everywhere? That's the impression that we get left with from our newscasts here, and I'm sure it's exaggeration. It's interesting to hear from somebody actually over there.

 

honestly? nothing, absolutely nothing !
not even a different sunset-colour...

here we start to believe, this "ash-cloud" is a dangerous as the swine-flu...
it is all based on computer-models, nobody really checked the density in middle europe.

its just a bad joke and only very real for the Icelandic guys and their closest neighbours. airlines start to consider bringing all this to local courts.
sad...

 

Kind of what I thought. It's more hype than reality.

I see that they're reopening the airports, as you say, and is this because the ash is actually dissipating, or is just because they've decided that airplanes can fly through it without a problem after all?

 

they do not even know the density or real position of the cloud..
it is only a computer model based on weather forecasts, nobody really knows, only panic and hype.
