Column shift to floor shift conversion

I’m looking for a picture of a 70 without the carpet to see the hole in the floor. I’m thinking about switching from column shift to floor shift and just doing research. Anybody have pictures of their floor without their carpet in it to see exactly where the hole is made for the floor Shifter I’d appreciate it.

If you are asking about the hole for the shifter cable, there's a dimple stamped into the floor pan where you drill the hole. The hole locations for the shifter bracket are shown in the PIM, Section 7, page 121. The dimple is just ahead of that location.

I did this same swap in my '72 ragtop within the last year - I recommend that you test-fit the shifter mechanism and console brackets to the bare floor before doing any drilling, and then securing them via some strong tape so that you can lay the carpet over them for an actual console test fit for a general alignment check over the shifter and brackets.

If I recall, the actual hole you drill for the cable should be no more than 1 inch diameter - and I suggest buying an NOS cable over repro if possible - it's p/n 407409 and having compared both, NOS looks much more trustworthy in my opinion - Got my cable on Ebay from this seller who still has at least one more:

1969-72 CUTLASS 442 SHIFTER CABLE NEW GM NOS OLD STOCK 407409 IN PACKAGE | eBay

good time to replace the carpet if it's worn. I went with the ACC Essex heavy jute padded version instead of standard thin loop. set. It's thicker than the loop but doesn't really change the console mounting alignment upon it.
