68 Cutlass Gauge Swap Speedhut

Just finished swapping my gauges out to Speedhut Revolution Series 4" with black bezels. I know a few guys on here have done this a few ways. Putting smaller gauges in through front and member "ctosiflying" has done this through the back with a little different approach. Appreciate his input on my swap. He didn't take pictures so I thought I would and it may help others out. After completing, the install looks factory. I put the gauges in the original pods and only added 3 #6 screws to lock them in place using all the factory gauge pods otherwise. Simply drilled 3 holes around metal housing and screwed them in. The set screws are very small and grab into the plastic Speedhut gauge housing simply to keep them from moving. Last picture shows where 1 of the screws are in the metal housing. You can see others if you look close. I left the Speedhut bezels on as they hold the glass and they barely show. This is a very easy swap with dash completely out. I know the 68-69 cars don't get pre made gauge setups, but I would say this is likely as easy as installing setups in the 70-72's. Hope this helps others looking to swap gauges.

Wow, that is a really nice swap job. I'm going to have to keep this idea for when (if) I ever pull my dash.

One of the things I loved about the deeply recessed gauges in the '68-'69s is that Dad had to make it really obvious by leaning over to see how fast I was driving.

Thanks. It's a very easy swap. I mainly went this route because I'm doing a pro-touring setup with 5.3 LS and 4L60 trans and these gauges have the GPS speedometer. You can get them either way, but buying one of the cable to computer boxes to use original speedometer is about half what I paid for all three of these gauges and I now have a tach and actual oil pressure etc verses just warning lights.
