Seats Finally Done!

I've been collecting parts to redo my buckets on my '68 for the last 3 yrs & since I'm on a voluntary lay-off at the moment I finally have some time to give to the Olds!. The interior was pretty much original except for the carpet. The seat frames were still shiny silver & the foam buns were in great shape. The drivers bucket had some poorly done seam repair done before I got the car & the "double-diamond" vinyl on the cushion had some small cracks. I also added a pair of repop headrests since they were optional in '68 & my seats had the metal brackets in them. I want to thank Ben Rambo for all his help,he was awesome!! He was in the middle of moving & still took the time to send me some great "how to" pics & info on things like modifying the '68 seat backs for the headrest tubes, plus he sells pre-made kits with the burlap, padding etc.' which I bought from him. I was lucky in that the pass seat had never been apart, I couldn't believe all the "spare" hog rings that fell out of it!!! The drivers had to be taken down the the bare springs & redone since the burlap was shredded from all the repair work. I'm very happy with the way they turned out but I hope I NEVER see another hog ring!!! I would definitely recommend spending a little more $$ & buy Legendary covers, they are beautiful!!!

Looks Great! I hope mine come out that well when I get to them next year. I will be adding the headrests to mine as well.

Looks great Rob! I agree that Lengendary makes a difference. If you ever get a chance to compare them side to side Legenday ‘s grain and pleats are much better.

I discovered some time ago, I'm not good at upholstery. You did a fine job, and they look great.

Thanks for the compliments guys!! I had a pic of some PUI covers that I took at a car show but I must have deleted it. The PUIs are horrible!! The pleats are pretty much flat & the "double diamond" vinyl looks more gray. Legendary usually has a sale at the end of every year,I bought mine during their xmas sale at the end of 2015. I think they were around 15% off. They did take over a month but I was in no hurry. Now on to the next project! I noticed an oil leak the other day & found out my 4 yr old POS carquest a/c compressor was leaking out the big housing o-ring seal at the rear. I took it apart & found out they used the old style black o-rings that don't hold up with r134. The thing that pissed me off the most is the r134/oil took the paint of the frame so now I have to get in there & touch everything up! My neighbor came up with a few cans of old r12 so I'm going to convert it back!
