Seat Questions for 69 Cutlass
Other than the seat back reclining control cylinder, are there any differences between a strato bucket and a plain old bucket seat (like foam, etc)? I know there is a grommet hole for the control cable in the seat upholstery.
And can you change a 68 bucket to a 69 bucket by just replacing the seat back release hardware and the seat back?
Thanks in advance from El Paso

The foam and stuff is basically the same- but i'm not familair with the seat cover patterns- Certain years used a foam that didn't have the bolster channels if the cover pattern didn't use it (i beleive 1970 S & 442 style was like this)
As for making a 68 into a 69... You really can't do it.
The 67/68 bottom seat frame is missing the "shoulder" at the rear that the 69-72 seatback strap bolts onto... and the seat back frame is also slightly different for each years lock mechanism. Even if you had the "guts" from one, you couldn't bolt them into the other years frame w/o serious metal fabrication & welding.
The springs, foams & covers from 66-72 are the same outside dimentions though-so any year covers will fit any of the seats.
Personally I like the 67/68 seatback lock design much better than the 69-72 style. I'd keep em and just put the 69 covers on.
Or sell the 67/68 seats and just buy 69-72's to recover.
