Removal of molding
Anyone know how to remove the rubber exterior window moldings on a '72 Cutlass 442?
Ive done the doors, removed glas, handles etc and removing the glass allowed me access to the screws securing the molding to the sill of the door. Problem is, when I go to remove the rear 1/4 windows, I cant get to all the screws...some are hidden behind the glass...
Ive looked at the glass and it looks near impossible to remove. Not nearly enough space to get in to the bolts....well from the door jam area anyway...must I remove the rear interior to get at it?
How do theses moldings get removed?
Do I need to take the glass out?

Is this molding the window fuzzys? Kind of a felt surface that touches the glass? If so, I removed the glass to reach the screws when I did it. Not sure if there's another way, but that's all I came up with. John

Just remove the lower window stop and you should have enough room to get at the screws. ( or you can just loosen the bolt enough so it slides down, allowing the window to come down another 1/2" or so) I had trouble on one side when I installed new sweeps. The problem was in the regulator somewhere, but I was still able to just get the tip of the screwdriver in there. The screws are usually not that tight. WD-40 first. Chumley I just re-read your post. I was assuming you had the quarter interior panels off, in which case more is involved, ( seat removal, armrest panel, etc.) Are you just replacing the exterior sweeps?
