Rearview mirror location (72 442)
I've been driving my 72 442 nearly a year and the only thing that bothers me is the rearview mirror location. It's too low and blocks a big chunk of my vision. I'm about 6' and using stock seats. I cant be the only one.
Anyone know of a different, shorter mount that will move the mirror up an inch or so?

REAL 442 Drivers don't need a rear view mirror

I assume you've already tried to pivot the arm up as much as possible.
Is the mirror attached to the windshield glass? When you loosen the set screw that holds the mirror on to the glass and remove it, there's a little plate attached to the glass. Those plates are glued on with some special adhesive and can probably be moved up. Talk to someone that's smarter than me about how to remove and re-glue it higher up on the glass. I've seen guys glue those pieces on but don't know what they use.
I just wonder if you get it too high if you'll still be able to see out the back window.

yeah, it's attached to the roof, but it is kinda comforting I'm not the only one.
I was hoping the convertible was higher.

I am 5-9 and I think the mirror is in the way (or too big). Not enough to make me move it, but close. If I ever find one in the junk yard with map lights, compass and temp display, I will go that route...

Naw, I likes you the way you are... I appreciate that you were just trying to be helpful. Sorry if my response sounded harsh - not intended that way. Just was doing a quick reply (so unlike me). I guess thinking back to when the car was new, it might have taken some getting used to. But that's the trick, right? After you're used to it, not really a problem. I know guys that had 74/5 Gran Torinos and 74 Chargers that will tell you that the mirror in the Olds is like a panoramic view in comparison. I checked out their rides while they checked out mine. The only thing you could see clearly from those cars was the road ahead.

Or...the other thing you could do is take a phone book out to the car and sit on it . You do have power seats in Lady, don't you?

Along the southern coast of Canaan.
The Philistines were an ancient rival of the Israelites (around 1,000 BC).
In the Biblical record, they attained an unpleasant reputation (not having been very serious writers themselves, there is no record of what they thought of the Israelites).
In modern English, their name connotes a materialistic person who is disdainful of artistic or historic values.
But you knew that already...

Infinite adjustment
The mirror has two swivels and one pivot point on it's attachment locations...it moves left or right, up or down on the upper ball (at the headliner) and moves up and down, left or right on the lower ball (at the mirror head), and tilts up and down where the attaching screw is at the mirror head...and I'm 190 cm...
