Question on where’s the exact location for the center console brackets.
Hey, I am new to this forum my dad and I have been working on his 70 Cutlass. And we are looking to convert it from bench to bucket seats. We are also going to install the center console. Does anyone have any idea as to where the correct location for the center console brackets are? We do have the shop manuals but they are vague and don't really help. I have also looked through several discussion posts in this forum and there is no clear answer as to where they go on the transmission tunnel. Any pictures would also help.
Thanks.

Help a friend do this on his 70 vista cruiser , the trans mission tunnel was dimpled. All we had to do was line up the holes for the shifter and the rear bracket with the dimples, I believe we had to put the console in and mark the location for the bracket under the dash. It was fast and easy to install. I did this on my 66 cutlass , it had dimples also.
Have you pulled the carpet?

I remember seeing at least two posts with pictures and measurements of where the brackets attach. The first was a build thread and the second was someone asking the same questions as you and the replies had pics and measurements. Search the site and you should find the info.
Here is one thread with measurements...

I recall others, but didn't find them easily. YRMV
