New Sail Panels

I have new sail panels for my 68, they are from REM, anybody have any idea what they were thinking for the center clip.

Repo on the top with funny feature and bottom is the original panel with metal center clip.

It looks like they gave you a reinforced area to attach the original clips.

The original clip slipped into that metal retainer on the original one.
The square they glued on the backside of the new one allows you to slip the "foot" of the clip under it (looks like that to me anyway)

Actually the "foot" wouldn't slide under the square, it was completely glued on all surfaces, I ended up removing these and just used Velcro. That was two years ago, still holding.
