sail panels
sail panels
I am redoing my headliner in my 98, and the sail panels are shot as well. While I was taking off the old material, the corners were stapled in on the backside.
Does anyone know what kind of gun/stapler I should use, or size? Im sure if I just glue it back on, the corners will not stay put.

G-day mate, what type of car are you working on as the roof you describe sounds just like mine with the staples. I am just about to tackle the job myself. If its the same as mine I am going to use a heavy duty staple gun I have here that a lounge apholsterer would use. This one was used to put new seat cloth on. Any craft or handyman shop should have one. Shoot me your email address and I can email a photo if you want. This one has a handle and a seperate lever you push down on. Still it would be interesting to chat to someone who is tackling the same job I am.
I am working on a 1991 98. The sail panels are in the inside, they go between the back window, and the side windows on the back doors. The panels are about 3/16 of an inch, which then the fabic covers them. I think staples from a heavy duty gun is a little too much! lol but thanks though!
Back to the sail panels. I just went ahead and attached the new fabic onto the panels yesterday, without any staples. The 3m spray is very strong, so it seems like I shouldnt need them. (I hope!)
