Leaky Convt Piston
Leaky Convt Piston
I have a leak at the lower part of the driver-side covt top piston/cylinder where the hydraulic line screws in.
I have covered the threads with liquid teflon (from Home Depot plumbing section) and re-tightened the screw but the leak is still there.
Can I do anything else - besides replacing the hydraulic line/hose?
Here are some pictures:

Looks like the hose has seen better days as the crimp connection is starting to leak. As a last resort prior to placing the order for a new hose assembly, you could try cleaning off the oil around the fitting and you would have to get it nice and clean. With that done, mix up a little 2 part epoxy and make sure it will stick to plastic. I'd try a bead of epoxy around the area where the hose goes into the fitting and see what happens. Make sure the epoxy covers onto the hose and fitting and let it dry completely before putting any pressure in the system. This is not the way to fix these problems but it's worth a try before spending the money for a new hose set especially since these hoses can run close to $100/set. If it doesn't work and you end up changing the hoses, don't tighten the fittings to the cylinders too much. The cylinders are only aluminum. I just recently installed new hoses and cylinders on a car and the instructions said to just snug the fitting and then give it another 1/4 turn and no more.
