Keys and locks - doors not working

Hi all - 72 cutlass convertible - round key works for trunk, glove box, and center console but doesn’t work on either door - any ideas?

purchased the car in 2000 and it was this way. Didn’t have the convertible top so it wasn’t an issue until recently.

Door and ignition use the same square key in that year. Trunk, glove box, and console use the oval one. It wasn't until the mid-70s that GM switched the door key to the oval blank.

Lol! I cannot believe I didn’t even try it - my first car was a 72 and I must have remembered it wrong - hey... it’s been 30 years so..... thanks gang! Can’t wait to try it! ... and I do have the owners manual 🙄

Well I tried it - the door locks still don’t work - tried WD40 and it clearly isn’t the same tumbler as the ignition - I seem to recall PO saying that they didn’t work (been a long time ago and a short conversation when I bought the car so not sure) - maybe they lost the key and just switched out the ignition and didn’t sweat the door locks? Dunno - but what’s my best bet moving forward? Switch out the tumblers for doors and ignition so the key matches? Or? (Never did this before)

Does the ignition key physically go into the door locks? If so, rekeying the tumblers is pretty easy. PM me.
