Install Radio

Hello, I have a 1969 442 convertible with a/c. The radio is a delco am/fm stereo with speaker fader. I do not know how the fader is installed or where it is located under the dash. Since I have a/c, there is not much room for it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Vince

The fader is integral to the radio head. Pull the tuning and fader ***** off and you'll see the fader **** has three prongs that plug into the radio itself. These jumper output between front, rear, and both speakers. Do NOT operate the radio without the fader **** or at least a jumper wire installed. It will fry the output transistor.

The stereo multiplexer amp has an umbilical cable to the radio head unit and is mounted behind the glove box, which has to be removed for access to the amp. The original head unit and stereo amp are a matched pair with identical serial numbers.
