72 Delta 88 convert. problems with cable sleeves and hood release, help, would like to take these apart, cable end ***** have no visible means of attachment they spin but wont unscrew, cable sleeve is broke and won't stay in qtr. panel, are the assemblies available?
Also how does hood release handle come apart? also appears that they are trapped in same plastic qtr. panel.
Repaired pass side with e clip to hold cable assembly in,U spring clamp won't hold it anymore, but sleeve was still intact.
The ***** are plastic most likely. The metal "rod" end has ridges formed into it so the **** is pushed on and the ridges keep it from coming off. Only way to remove is to hack them off or cut them off with a pair of wire cutters. Of course, make sure you have the proper replacements before doing this.
You'll probably have to pull whatever panels the cables go through and see what the backside of the panel and cable look like. Typically, there is a sort of push-on clip that holds the cables on the backside of the panels. Part of the cable outside casing can snap off sometimes and the clip then falls off.
It's a friggin nightmare, cable assembly for fresh air vents, plastic sheath is broken, metal bracket that hold cable assembly holds cable so tightly mounting tab ended up breaking while removing cable assembly, tried to use a 2 ear hose clamp to back up cable where it goes thru kick panel but that area is pocketed and couldn't get crimpers in there, so will look for a used cable now, was able to get an E clip on pass. side, U clip not holding that cable anymore.
Not going to mess with driver side any more, no visible means of removing hood release handle to remove panel and don't need another problem.
Anyone have a cable? Fresh air vent cable clamp, welded but broke again, MIG when should of TIG ! Alligator grip clamp Cable assemblies and bracket, main plastic sheath is also separated at **** end, so won't stay in panel, notice custom 40 year old $100 paint job
