help with kickdown cable adjustment TH350
help with kickdown cable adjustment TH350
I looked at the downshift cable adjustment in the 1976 chassis service manual. It says to hold the plastic sleeve with a 1/4 in open end wrench then rock channel locks holding the cable to adjust.
I cannot seem to adjust it nor get any passing gear/kickdown to work.
I have alot of play and can pull the cable way out while holding the plastic sleeve.
I don't want to pull the cable too far out unless thats the way to go with it.
Has anyone had success with this adjustment? How far does the cable need to be pulled out while holding the plastic sleeve?
Any input will be appreciated
Thanks
Eric

The sleeve is very loosy loosie on the cable, I don't know what the 1/4 wrench needs to do . The diagram also shows a ball with a cable stop. Is the ball suppose to move as well ?
I tried moving the ball along the cable but it wont budge.
Now..If I'm understanding this correctly, I pull on the cable with channel locks until the cable can't come out any further regardless how far it needs to come out.

I have about 3 inches of play when just pulling the cable out easy by hand. Does anyone know how much further I should pull on the cable before it self adjusts back?
Is their anything in the trans that is preventing it from kicking down?
Thanks
Eric

I have tension but not before I have about 3 inches of cable coming out from the fun pedal. Should I just put the channel locks on the cable and pull with the 1/4 wrench resting on the plastic sleeve? I could drop the pan and check if its connected in ther, will i need to remove the filter to get to it?
