NAPA and the Fastener Specialty shop cant match a retainer that fits this. Anyone know what size or what they should look like?

 

Those door panel rockets use two "push on" retainers (2 per rocket). I don't have a pic right now as I need to locate panel with those on it. Anyway, they are somewhat "unique" in shape but any type of "push on" type retainer might work as long as it locks into the posts on the back of the rocket emblems. The hole in the middle of the retainer is sort of "barbed" so it slips on and sort of digs into the chrome posts.

The shorter middle post on those rockets doesn't use get a retainer....that was an alignment/locating post/pin.

 

Try your local hardware store or body shop supply store. If no luck restoration specialties in Pennsylvania

I just Googled door panel emblem clips. I read on a GTO forum that you could find something similar at ace hardware.

 

Lowe's, etc will also have what Hoffman shows....I've found those at a local Lowe's. Those aren't the same appearance as the originals but they may work...you just need something that will push on and GRAB/HOLD ONTO the post. Hoffman's link shows one style of "push nut".

You should measure the diameter of the posts on the emblem and go from there since push nut sizes refer to the size of the post they are intended to retain as far as I know.

 

I see pictures where some cars have them on the door panels and some don't.
Wondering why this is ?
