dashboard pinstripes
In this latest issue of Musclecar Enthusiast, the did a write on a 68 H/O. One of the pictures shows the dash with white pinstripes on the lower metal section just below the lower plastic trim. What 68's had pinstripes? Was it an option or was it standard?

Yipes Stripes!
The dual dash pinstriping was standard on the 1968 442 according to the Sullivan resto guide.
It doesn't specifically say anything about them for the H/O but there is a pic of one with them and I've seen others that are the same so I would guess they're standard.
If not somebody will chime in.

Check out the fifth picture down, I believe these are the stripes your describing. I can take some closeup photos and/or measurements if it would help. Yes, they do look like tape not painted on. John

What is left of the stripe on my dash is tape. One piece of tape appears to be a little wider then the other. I will get measurements sometime later this winter and share. I will have to raise the right side of the dash pad a bit to expose what is left of the stripe.

The dash tape is one piece of tape with two stripes on it. You buy it on a roll in different colours and '68 uses black for gold or red interior and white for the other interior colours...It's called Double Stripes by Plastigard, a division of Crilaplastic, 36 feet long, PN PG922670 ...I have had this tape for a few years now for the '68 convert so I don't know if that brand is still available...It's a 1/8 stripe with a 1/8 space and a 1/16 stripe...

Damn. That's good information, except I can't find any online. Perhaps this explains it... http://www.chapter15.com/bin/chapter...cid=1233126671

Thank you all for the info and input. Glad to hear that the stirpes are supposed to be there. I was thinking previous owner put them on. They are in relatively good shape for original stripes.

Nice shot
That's the correct stripe! There is no stripe under the steering column on that little plastic piece... You could touch up the chips (very carefully) with some white paint if you so desired... I put a piece of black plastic electrical tape over the spot where the keys drag on the edge of the dash...remove for show..

And when I went to the paint shop to get paint for my convert lo and behold, there across the counter was a cabinet full of packages of striping tape...Prostripe PN R42008CP by Sharpline Converting, Wichita KS(for '68 dash)...but it was in 150 foot rolls...I bought 1/4 inch tape for the '68 GT stripe at a hobby shop and it has been on Muskrat's car for over two years now...the original GT stripe was painted on...

Can someone please measure the stripes for me? Prostripe is easy to find. I just want to make sure I am getting the correct size. I no longer have my original stripe to compare.
Here's the chart. Looks like the R320 or R420.
