I'm just fishing for ideas. Anyone made/used/seen a good approach to adding cup holders to a bucket car with console? '72 in this case. We'll likely end up grafting something onto the console out of fiberglass but I'm hoping for some inspiration. The main problem is I like the original console - being small - as opposed to the gigantic modern consoles and the typical custom jobs. Of course small means no cup holders, so it is a challenge.
i dont have any great ideas but i was gonna post a pic of a hot female holding a cup and say i have one like this...but then i lost interest in the project...then i decided to google custom cup holders and saw this one and thought you could make a custom console cover w cup holders in it like this
I
ve been really happy with the generic, slip in low rider console from OPGI... fits in front of the console and is low profile enough that you don’t really notice it...
I've been hoping to see somebody who's converted a factory 4-speed console opening into a cup holder space - have been thinking about that myself, as I have a column-shift '72 to which I added buckets and factory console in place of the original bench and had one of the repro vendors make a solid console top plate for it (without the auto shifter cutout).Looks completely factory except for not having a floor shifter sticking up from it.
you can buy the 4-speed conversion part to change an auto console into a 4-speed unit, albeit not cheap at about $160 or so...
