Common issues with 4 way power seat🤔🤔🤔
I was hoping to get some advice from my first thread about the 4 way power driver seat in my '72 Supreme, but apparently not, so let's see how I do with a dedicated thread.
I'm getting the driver seat re upholstered in a couple weeks, and since I'm gonna have it out, I figured I MAW trouble shoot why it's not working correctly. I have power to the motor, but the seat only moves a little back and forth. I have already ordered a new belt and gears for the drive mechanism coming from the motor, but is there a common issue that I should also address?

I have worked on a few of these. Biggest issue on any well used example is dirt, rust, and lack of lubrication. Remove the track assembly from the seat frame and clean everything, then connect the switch and a battery with a good ground. Test all the modes to see what works. Then lubricate the tracks and gears and test again, you may have to do this a number of times to get everything moving quickly through the entire adjustment range. One track I had didn't work because a seat attachment bolt had fallen down and jammed the track. When you get it working right and reinstall it, run a dedicated ground wire to a clean contact. Good luck.
